Golden Gate Tutoring is a multi-disciplinary online and in-person tutoring company, working with students of all ages, learnings styles, and backgrounds to help with test prep, learning disabilities, organization, study skills, and attentional deficits. Its founder is fully credentialed in California in special education and across multiple subjects, including science and math.

With full creative license, my client asked me to deliver a name-based logo that was distinctly on topic.
After doing some initial research on other tutoring websites and programs, I started sketching down ideas. I brainstormed things that people connect with the words learning, teaching, tutoring, teacher, and student. Some of these ideas - pencils, rulers, erasers - made it into the final design, while others, such as graduation caps and light bulbs, did not.
The Final Product: Working with these images and building on the iconic image of the city in which the business is based, we merged these ideas into the current design below. The design reflects an abstraction of the Golden Gate Bridge, with eraser topped pencils connected by a ruler representing the supporting pillars of the structure. Whimsical pencil lines reflect the bridges supporting cabling. Naturally, the color scheme is inspired by the Golden Gate Bridge. My choice for font was 'Avenir Bold'.
This new logo also inspired the renaming of the business to Golden Gate Tutoring.
